Our History:

Keen Music and the Arts was established in California in 1992 and moved to Colorado Springs, CO in 1993 where we have enjoyed 13 years of teaching young children and their families the joy of making music and learning in fun and exciting ways. We teach the highly acclaimed Musikgarten curriculum written by leading early childhood music and movement scholars, Dr. Lorna Heyge and Audrey Sillick. Their expertise and research in the area of music, movement and learning in the lives of young children is internationally known and respected. Their approach to teaching young children the way that they learn and incorporating nature and other cultures into the process is innovative and opens up the “sense of wonder” in the young child.

We offer the full line of Musikgarten classes for children from birth to the age of nine years including beginning piano and as such hold a “Musikgarten Exemplary Program Award” from Musikgarten. Our studio is dedicated to building a musical foundation in young children that will provide benefits to the young child and their families throughout their lives. Our goal is to teach music literacy skills so that when a child leaves our program he/she will have the foundation necessary to learn to play any instrument that they desire or experience life to the fullest.

Musically I have to share - the 8th grade concert was last night, and the band played a medley that Jayson composed, arranged and directed.  It was really good - you'd never know it was written by a 13 year old.  The high school band director was in attendance and said it was as good as one of his senior's had just submitted and won all-american for - so there's great hope, and Jayson was very encouraged.  We are blessed - thanks for helping to raise him right in music! ...
